the entity through which Harvard Medical works to improve medical
education and healthcare delivery. HMI draws on the expertise
of the 8500 faculty of the medical school, which was established in
1782 and is one of the world's preeminent instutions in medical
education and research.

Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) was founded in 1784 "to establish
a liberal and extensive system of surgical education". The College has proudly
sustained this tradition for over two hundred years and the historical development
of Dublin as a prominent center of medical education is deeply entwined with the
history of the College.
Postgraduate teaching has developed rapidly and there are currently over 4,000
fellows of the College. The College maintains a very close relationship with its
sister Royal Surgical Colleges in Great Britain and with recognized centers of
surgical training throughout the world.
